[ARCHIVED] Winners selected for City of Brighton's 2023 Water Conservation Poster Contest

After much deliberation, the City of Brighton has selected its winners for the 2023 Water Conservation Poster Contest:

  • First place - Paige Nino, fourth grader at Southeast Elementary School
  • Second place - Jaidyn Dominguez, fifth grader at Foundations Academy
  • Third place - Grace Kelly, fourth grader at Brantner Elementary School
  • Honorable Mention - Jaslyn Fresquez, fourth grader at Southeast Elementary School

Of 29 entries, the four winning posters exemplified the spirit, creativity and messaging of the importance of water conservation. All poster submissions can be seen here.

“Each entry demonstrated different aspects of the need for conservation with such color and creativity that it made it quite difficult to choose the winning designs,” said Marc Johns, Director of Utilities. “It shows us that the youth in our community really understand the importance of conservation.”

The winners will each receive a gift card (first place $100, second place $50, third place $25 and honorable mention $25). City Council will be recognizing the winners at the May 16 meeting. The first-place poster will be printed and displayed throughout the city, and each submission is featured on the city’s website on the Water Conservation Poster Contest page.

About the contest:

In February of 2022, the City of Brighton launched the inaugural Water Conservation Poster Contest to encourage youth to showcase the importance of water conservation through their creativity. Brighton elementary school students grades K-5 were invited to participate. Posters were judged based on creativity, relevance to theme, legibility and adherence to guidelines (i.e. original artwork, no glitter or stickers, etc.). Learn more about the contest here.
