The Brighton Recreation Center is pleased to host several activities during the month of July.

• July 1 : Kids n Canvas (Carmichael Park)

Your kids love to paint and create, but the thought of getting out the craft supplies and cleaning up after makes you twitch...Kids ‘n Canvas to the rescue! In just 2 hours, a Gallery Guide will instruct a fun and fabulous piece of art while painters follow along creating their own MYsterpiece! It’s guaranteed to bring out creativity, fun and laughter. But don’t worry, no art-smarts are needed. Painters will follow simple step-by-step instructions. It’s not a painting class.....it’s a painting pARTy! Artwork is pre-selected, but creativity is encouraged! Class includes all supplies, snacks and fun!

• July 11: Gentle Yoga on the Pier (Ken Mitchell Park Fishing Pier)

 Join us for a peaceful, low-impact yoga class surrounded by nature. This soothing yoga class will focus on gentle stretches, seated and supported postures, and slow intentional movements to promote relaxation and flexibility. Beginners welcome. Bring water, a yoga mat if you have one, and a blanket or towel if you would like padding under your knees.

• July 19: Family Fitness Fun (Cherry Meadows Park) 

Kick off your weekend with fitness and fun for the whole family! Parents will start the morning with a Total Body Conditioning workout—using bodyweight exercises and low-impact cardio to break a sweat. While parents are moving, kids will enjoy supervised playtime at the park with one of our Brighton Rec Center childcare staff.

After the workout, it's the kids' turn to get active! They'll start with a fun warm-up and stretch, followed by an exciting obstacle course designed to get their bodies moving and smiles flowing.

• July 19: Family Nature Club July Wonder of Water (Benedict Park)

Did you know the water on earth has been around since before the dinosaurs? It is ancient and precious and the fuel for all life on our planet! For July’s Family Nature Club we’ll cool off with water games, discover how water moves around our world, and explore the intricacies of aquatic ecosystems!

• July 21 - 25 : Kids 5280 Theater Camp - Shakespeare in the Park (Brighton Park)

Step into the world of Shakespeare and bring his timeless works to life in our Shakespeare in the Park Summer Camp! Young actors ages 6 to 13 will explore the magic of Shakespeare’s language through fun and engaging activities, working together to perform scenes and monologues from his most famous plays. Throughout the week, campers will collaborate with their peers to develop acting skills, build confidence, and unleash their creativity, all while experiencing the joy of outdoor theater. The week will culminate in a Shakespeare in the Park Showcase, where family and friends can enjoy a performance under the open sky.

Get your heart pumping with this high-energy, partner-based workout. Designed to build endurance and strength, this session combines bodyweight exercises with cardio-focused movements, including jogging on paths and uphill terrain. Perfect for pairs, this workout brings fitness and teamwork together in a fun, challenging outdoor setting.
