The IT Department strives to be a strategic partner to other City departments in accomplishing technology-driven initiatives and goals.
Beginning in 2018, IT has shifted its business philosophy to a “Cloud When Possible” strategy to leverage scalable infrastructure that utilizes cloud storage, cloud computing, and cloud security solutions. Since then, all major software implementations were made to ensure smooth user experience, productive integrations, and boosted business efficiencies. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and increased cyber crime activities against Federal, State, and local governments, IT drastically bolstered City’s cybersecurity posture by adding user training, firewalls, network monitoring, and intrusion detection tools to safeguard both the City and public’s data on the network. In the next five years, the IT Department will focus heavily on network availability, reliability, survivability, scalability, and maintainability through fiber construction, public Wi-Fi, expanded security policies, and governance.
