Municipal Court


The Brighton Municipal Court will ONLY be holding Trials and Restitution Hearings in person. The Court will require temperature taking, face coverings and social distancing.

Purpose and Programs

  • The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over violations of City of Brighton ordinances for traffic cases code enforcement, animal control, and other misdemeanor criminal matters. Other, more serious, criminal matters are handled through the Adams County Court.
  • The Teen Court is a program available to youth, grades 9-12, that allows them to have an active role in the criminal justice system and to mentor at-risk youth in the City of Brighton.

The Brighton Municipal Court accepts payments via the mail by check or money order in person by cash, credit/debit, money order or check and on-line at

You will not be admitted to the Court Room if you are wearing any of the following:
  • Shorts
  • Tank Tops
  • Gang-related clothing
  • Drug-related clothing
  • Clothing with sexually explicit graphics
