Municipal Court

The Brighton Municipal Court has made the following temporary modifications to court procedures:

  • Traffic Summons with an Accident –payable
  • Only If No Injury and Proof of Insurance 

Municipal Ordinance Violations for the following charges are payable:

  • Public Urination or Defecation
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia defendant over 21 year of age
  • Animal at Large 1st Offense

Purpose and Programs

  • The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over violations of City of Brighton ordinances for traffic cases code enforcement, animal control, and other misdemeanor criminal matters. Other, more serious, criminal matters are handled through the Adams County Court.
  • The Teen Court is a program available to youth, grades 9-12, that allows them to have an active role in the criminal justice system and to mentor at-risk youth in the City of Brighton.

The Brighton Municipal Court accepts payments via the mail by check or money order in person by cash, credit/debit, money order or check and on-line at

Dress Code

You will not be admitted to the Court Room if you are wearing any of the following:
  • Shorts
  • Tank Tops
  • Gang-related clothing
  • Drug-related clothing
  • Clothing with sexually explicit graphics
