NEW BUILDING CODE ADOPTION IN EFFECT AS OF 2023

NOTICE: Electrical Code GFCI Variance

On June 29th, 2021, the State of Colorado issued a temporary variance that relieves Ground-Fault-Circuit-Interrupter protection for HVAC equipment due to nuisance tripping.

Beginning July 7, 2021 we will no longer require Ground-Fault-Circuit-Interrupter protection for the branch circuits or feeders supplying power to HVAC equipment. This is to bring us into alignment with the temporary variance issued by the State of Colorado Electrical Board.

This only applies to residential dwellings.

The temporary variance expires: (1) one year from the date the electrical board grants the request and, if needed, the electrical board will review for extension, (2) When the National Fire Protection Association issues an applicable Tentative Interim Amendment (TIA), (3) upon the Electrical Board adoption of the 2023 National Electrical Code.
