[ARCHIVED] Bridge Street widening project update (Friday, March 8)

Bridge Street widening project update (March 8):
(The following schedule is weather dependent and subject to change)

-Next week, the S 40th Avenue and Bridge Street intersection will continue to experience a full closure for large utility pipe installations. This closure is expected to be in place 24/7 through the next several weeks for the safety of the traveling public and construction team. The excavations and roadway required to perform work safely will not allow for any traffic to flow through the work area. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes during this time. The project team recommends drivers use S 27th and S 50th Avenue to Southern Street to avoid traffic control and construction. Please follow all signage on-site and see the detour map below for additional navigational details.

-Starting Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bridge Street will be reduced to a single lane with flagging operations from Chapel Hill Drive to 42nd Avenue. This will continue during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Outside of these working hours, a large plate will be placed over the roadway and two-lane traffic will resume. Please drive carefully over the metal plate when crews are not on-site.

-Crews will continue operating along Bridge Street within the permanent traffic realignment from 22nd Avenue to 40th Avenue through next week.

-For drivers traveling westbound on Bridge Street, there will be no left turns onto 27th Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to continue west to make a lefthand turn at 22nd Avenue.

-Speed limit reductions are in place within the project zone. Additional traffic enforcement will be patrolling the construction zone to ensure the safety of the project team and traveling public.

-Trucks and heavy equipment will continue to enter and exit the roadway within the project zone, so drivers are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space in between vehicles. Please be mindful and exercise extreme caution when traveling through construction areas.
