Construction on the Brighton Recreation Center expansion project has begun, as crews from FCI Constructor, Inc. are currently working on the foundation for the new expanded areas. 

Inside the building, partitions have been installed to separate areas undergoing demolition, HVAC upgrades, and the installation of the new second-floor cycling studio. Equipment on the second floor has been relocated to the walking track, while the downstairs “Rogue Studio” has been temporarily moved to Community Room 101.  

In the coming weeks, a critical milestone will be reached with the relocation of the second-floor egress, expected to take place between March 24-28, which will prepare the site for vertical construction. This step will set the stage for the formation of the new Rogue Studio and the downstairs weight room. During this period, there will be a partial closure of the upstairs track area, fitness studio, cardio equipment section, and gymnasium.  

The Brighton Recreation Center will undergo a full facility closure from May 17 to June 2. This closure will accommodate the installation of a new rooftop unit and the upgrade of the facility’s fire alarm system, two critical projects that are essential to the overall expansion. By scheduling these upgrades during this time, the center will eliminate the need for its usual annual maintenance closure in September, ensuring the construction timeline stays on track to meet vital project deadlines.
