The Brighton Recreation Center will celebrate the grand opening of its brand new waterslide with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10:15 a.m.  

Elementary school students from the Brighton area recently participated in a competition to name the new slide. The winning entry, The Brighton Cyclone by Willow Modica, a fifth grader at Foundations Academy, was selected by Brighton City Council on Jan. 7. 

The aquatics area will resume regular operations following the ceremony.
