Renovations at Benedict Park (1855 Southern Street) are scheduled to begin as soon as Tuesday, Sept. 3, resulting in limited public access to sections of the park through June 2025.
The Benedict Park construction project will add a variety of amenities and upgrades, including two new playgrounds, a new irrigation system, a skate park expansion, new shelters, new lighting, supplemental landscaping, and a walking trail on the east end of the park.
Brighton City Council approved funding for the project earlier this year. Additionally, Adams County Open Space awarded the city $1.75 million in grant money for the project.
Sections of the park impacted during construction will include:
Parking lot along Southern Street: parking will be closed; access for driving through will be permitted
Portions of the parking lot adjacent to the splash pad at the northwest corner of the park will be closed; school access will be allowed
Walking path along the east side of the park will be closed in sections
Skate park will be closed
All shelters will be closed
Playgrounds will be closed
Disc golf course will be closed
Sports programing will be relocated to other parks
