There is still time to apply to be a member of the Brighton Youth Commission (BYC). Interested applicants can apply using this form by the Monday, June 17 deadline.
The BYC is a body of youth and adults who are appointed by City Council to study and investigate matters impacting youth in the City of Brighton. The BYC plans and implements projects addressing these matters, like Suicide Prevention Education Awareness Knowledge (SPEAK) Week, and a mental health awareness program that is youth led and youth driven. The BYC is a great way to build leadership skills and serve your community while having fun.
To be eligible for the Brighton Youth Commission, you must either attend a 27J school or have significant ties to the City of Brighton — and be between 8th grade and age 19. The BYC is committed to youth-adult partnerships and is also recruiting adult members to fill six adult slots typically available on the commission.
In-person interviews are tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 21. If you are unable to attend, you must notify Tawnya Russell, Manager of Brighton Youth Services, by June 17. Please email trussell@brightonco.gov or call 303-655-2123.
