Tyren King, Brighton Recreation Center Coordinator for the City of Brighton, has been named the 2025 Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Outstanding New Professional of the Year. King received the award at the annual conference held last week in Vail.
The Outstanding New Professional award highlights individuals who exemplify leadership, inspiration and noteworthy contributions to the parks and recreation profession.
King began with the Brighton Recreation Center in October 2024. Since joining the City, he has played a key role in improving processes within the sports department, serves as a member of the city’s 3Es Committee, which focuses on employee engagement, and also co-chairs the EP (Empowering Professionals in CPRA) Committee, which focuses on professional development.
“I am very grateful to be a part of the Brighton Recreation team, especially as a new resident of Colorado,” King said. “I am passionate about my job because it allows me to help and improve our community through sports, giving people opportunities to be healthier, connect with others, and have fun. My experience with the City of Brighton has been extremely positive; the leadership is wonderful and provides me with opportunities to grow in a meaningful and positive direction.”
Parks & Recreation Director Travis Haines added, "We are incredibly excited to have Tyren as part of the Parks & Recreation team. He has been a great addition and does amazing work for the Brighton community.”
