The City of Brighton is excited to announce the launch of its 2025 Brighton Civic Academy, an eight-week program designed to foster civic engagement and empower residents with a comprehensive understanding of key city departments. This program offers participants a unique opportunity to gain in-depth insights into city governance, budgeting and finance, utilities, public works, police, and parks and recreation.
Session dates and topics include:
- Sept. 18: Get to Know your City Government
- Sept. 25: Building a Thriving Community
- Oct. 2: Planning a Livable City
- Oct. 9: Parks and Recreation
- Oct. 16: Keeping our City Running
- Oct. 23: Public Safety
- Oct. 30: Serving the City and Roundtable with Elected Officials
- Nov. 4: Graduation
All sessions will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. except for graduation, which will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. A light meal will be provided at each session.
Applications for the Civic Academy are open now and will be accepted until noon on Aug. 20, 2025. The class is limited to 25 participants who must be residents of Brighton or employed at a business with a physical presence in Brighton. The academy is free and open to those 18 or older.
