[ARCHIVED] Brighton Employee Charities, in partnership with Brighton Ford, recognizes scholarship recipients

The City of Brighton Employee Charities (BEC), in partnership with Brighton Ford, has selected three recipients for scholarships this year. The scholarships are awarded to the recipients based on a high emphasis of community service and academics. This year’s recipients are Angelica Gallegos, Kimimela Ibarra and Tyler Blunt.

Gallegos, a senior from Brighton High School, plans to attend the University of Central Florida this fall. Gallegos has been active on the Brighton Youth Commission. She is a dedicated and hardworking individual.

In her essay application, Gallegos stated, “Community Service has allowed me to give back to the community, but it has also given me a deeper understanding of the impact we can have on each other’s lives. SPEAK is very impactful for me as mental health is close to my heart.”

Ibarra, a senior from Brighton High School, plans to attend Front Range Community College in the fall. Ibarra’s aspirations are in elementary school or special education. She involves others in the thinking process and creates a collaborative atmosphere where others can learn and grow as much as she does.

In her essay, Ibarra stated, “My gift is to be there for children and have the patience and understanding to fulfill their needs. I’ve found fulfillment in helping children feel safe, valued and loved.”

Blunt, a senior at The STEAD School, plans to attend Colorado Mesa University. Blunt has been involved in the Student Ambassador Program at his school. He has helped the Brighton community by serving with Brighton Fire Kid Academy.

In his essay, Blunt stated, “As a Student Ambassador, I welcome new students and visitors, ensuring they feel at home and supported. I help bridge the gap between students and school administration. Positive community service, to me, means using every opportunity to foster kindness, growth, and inclusivity.”
