To kick off Air Quality Awareness Week, the City of Brighton, in partnership with Anythink Libraries and Adams County, will be launching the Check Out The Air in Brighton program: a community-focused air quality monitoring program. Beginning May 6, residents will be able to check out handheld air quality monitors from the Anythink Brighton location, offering a simple and accessible way to learn more about local air quality conditions and promote environmental awareness.
“This initiative supports our goal of increasing community engagement around environmental health,” said Traci McLean, sustainability coordinator for the City of Brighton. “Together with Adams County and Anythink Libraries, we’re equipping residents with tools to better understand and address air quality concerns in their homes, neighborhoods, and daily lives.”
Through this partnership, community members can borrow a Temtop M10+ Air Quality Monitor, compact and user-friendly devices designed to provide real-time data on several key air quality metrics. These monitors measure PM2.5 (fine particulate matter), TVOCs (Total Volatile Organic Compounds), and formaldehyde (HCHO) levels, and provide a general Air Quality Index (AQI) rating.
Devices will be available for a 14-day checkout period and come with simple instruction guides and resources for interpreting readings and taking action based on the results.
