Ryan Smith, parks planning, development, and grant manager for the City of Brighton, has been named the 2024 Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Parks Section Professional of the Year. Smith received the award at the annual conference held last week in Keystone.
Nominees had to meet the following criteria to be eligible for the award:
Demonstrates outstanding skills and knowledge in the parks and irrigation profession.
Willingness to assist others and be a positive representation of the parks profession to fellow employees and the public.
Actively attends and completes industry related continuing education and training opportunities.
Exceptional irrigation knowledge including water conservation strategies, techniques to improve irrigation efficiency and knowledge of current industry trends.
Smith has spent eight years as an employee with the City of Brighton. He began his role as parks planning, development, and grant manager in early 2023.
“I am truly honored to be recognized as the recipient of the Parks Section Professional of the Year award from CPRA,” said Smith. “I'm grateful to work with so many great people and have such a great leadership team here at the City of Brighton.”
