The City of Brighton, the Brighton Police Department, and the Brighton Fire Recue District are notifying the community that the City’s outdoor warning siren system is not functioning, and we do not have the ability to test or activate the sirens at this time.  

The City of Brighton is encouraging community members to enroll in the CodeRed emergency alert system that has the ability to send notifications via phone, text, and email. By registering for CodeRed, you allow public safety agencies to quickly deliver alerts in the event of an emergency, like severe weather, evacuation notices, criminal activity and more. One person has the ability to receive alerts for several different addresses if they wish to enroll their home, school, or workplace.  

When it was recently determined that the siren system was not functioning as it should, the City of Brighton requested the authorized servicing vendor to do a further evaluation. The servicing vendor has not yet submitted the findings of their assessment.  

When the city receives further information from the servicing vendor, City Council will be presented with options for the future of the outdoor warning siren system. In the meantime, Brighton residents are strongly encouraged to ensure they have access to several alternative emergency notifications through mobile phones, social media, email, and television.
