Brighton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Dec. 17 around 6:12 p.m. The initial investigation revealed that a single male occupant was driving a Dodge Ram 3500 westbound on Interstate 76 near Eagle Boulevard when the vehicle swerved and left the roadway, causing it to roll. The driver had been ejected from the vehicle and was quickly transported by medical personnel. The 53-year-old was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the coroner’s office and notification of next of kin. The Brighton Police Department Traffic Safety Unit believes that alcohol was a contributing factor in this crash, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. This investigation remains ongoing and is still in the early stages.
