The Brighton Police Department has a clear roadmap for the future with their newly completed five-year strategic plan. The plan was developed after gathering feedback and data from community members, key stakeholders, and every rank and division of the police department.
Throughout the planning process, four vision areas were established - organizational excellence, community engagement, strategic growth, and destination employer. Within each vision area there are specific objectives and action items to be completed by 2029. Community members are encouraged to visit brightonco.gov/pdstrategicplan to view the full plan and progress updates.
Along with this roadmap for the future, Brighton Police Department revisited their mission statement and organizational values. While the organizational values remain the same, a new mission statement was established to help align all department priorities and initiatives moving forward.
“The Brighton Police Department proudly provides professional public safety services to our unique community. At the heart of our service we value people, seek justice for all, and strive for excellence through collaborative relationships and innovation.”
To compliment this new strategic plan and mission statement, the department has also further defined the service their community can expect to receive with the idea of golden rule policing. This unique approach is centered around integrity and compassion. “The idea of treating others the way we would want our family members, our friends, and our loved ones to be treated has been the hallmark of our organization for many years,” said Chief of Police Matt Domenico. “We hope to really continue to live up to the standard that our community expects from us.”
