Brighton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on July 23 around 12 a.m. The initial investigation reveals that an individual driving a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Bridge Street at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist crashed into the passenger side of a pickup truck that was taking a left turn from westbound Bridge Street onto southbound 50th Avenue. The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old male, was found deceased when officers arrived on scene.
The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old male, was suspected to be under the influence. He and his passenger were not injured. He was arrested and booked into Adams County jail on multiple charges including driving under the influence. Under Colorado laws, the arrest and filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
