Brighton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on August 23 around 11:15 p.m. The initial investigation reveals that a single male occupant was driving an Audi Q7 southbound on Highway 85 near Bromley Lane when the vehicle left the roadway and hit the embankment, causing it to roll. The vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. 

The driver’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the coroner’s office and notification of next of kin. The Brighton Police Department Traffic Safety Unit believes that speed was a contributing factor in this crash, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. This investigation remains ongoing and is still in the early stages.
