Brighton Police Department has arrested 22-year-old Jemhari Lee in connection to a homicide that occurred at an apartment complex in the 100 block of South Miller Avenue.
On Friday, Nov. 24 at 10:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area on reports of someone being shot. They arrived within minutes and observed multiple people outside who appeared to be involved. The victim, a 22-year-old male, was located inside an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and later died.
Officers conducted a thorough investigation and detained six people for questioning before arresting Jemhari Lee. Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the coroner’s office and notification of next of kin. This case will be filed with the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office where the final decision of formal charges will be determined. Under Colorado laws, the arrest and filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
