City of Brighton Parks & Recreation Department

The City of Brighton Parks & Recreation Department is committed to providing safe, well-maintained spaces and high-quality recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

The department oversees more than 1,096 acres of municipal parkland and open space, which includes:

  • 43 developed parks
  • 29 playgrounds
  • 48 miles of paved and soft-surface trails
  • 20 athletic fields
  • 3 cemeteries
  • Community gardens
  • Undeveloped parklands and open spaces

In addition to park and recreation amenities, the department manages multiple farm leases, conservation easements, and preserved farmland to protect Brighton’s agricultural heritage and ensure the long-term conservation of open lands.

The department operates key community facilities, including the Brighton Recreation Center, the Sue Corbett Active Adult Center, and the Oasis Aquatic Pool, ensuring year-round access to programs and amenities that support health, wellness, and community engagement.
