Police prepare to go back-to-school

BPD back to school

As Brighton families begin buying new clothes and stacks of supplies to prepare for school to restart, police officers in Brighton are also prepping for this annual event. Beginning on August 9th, BPD officers will be renewing their annual education and enforcement efforts to help remind drivers of the need for increased safety and awareness that the school-year brings.

School start times will range from 7:50 - 8:30 am this year, with release times between 3:30 and 4:35 pm, and officers will be concentrating their education efforts around area schools during these times. As in previous years, during the first week of school officers will primarily be reminding drivers they stop about the need to be extra careful to keep our children safe, issuing citations only for more serious traffic violations.

The Brighton Police Department would like to thank residents for their continued support and cooperation as we work to protect our community’s most precious asset – our kids.
