The Brighton Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is currently accepting proposals for the use of Lodging Tax funds for Brighton-based organizations directly involved in promoting the community to visitors and businesses. The Committee seeks organizations and teams who meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to develop, promote and administer projects which result in attracting new visitors and businesses to the community;
- Managed successful grant-funded projects and are proficient in project implementation and financial compliance reporting including monitoring grant funded and matching funds budgets and adhering to a timeline-driven work plan
- Contributed to the community – economically, fiscally, and culturally with evidence of a proven track record.
- Demonstrated ability to create overnight stays (lodging).
Proposals must be submitted to Alisha Janes, City of Brighton, 500 South 4th Ave., Brighton, CO 80601 on or before 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 for consideration by the Advisory Committee. The last day for submitting questions in writing, regarding the grant funding and request for proposal is Monday, Aug. 13, 3018. In November 2011, the City Council of Brighton adopted a city ordinance to provide revenue to be allocated by the City Council for economic development, special events, cultural arts, advertising and marketing and promoting tourism and other activities which utilize public accommodations through the levy of an additional tax on overnight lodging stays. The intent and purpose of this lodging tax is to raise funds to promote economic development, tourism, conventions and related activities by marketing the City and sponsoring community events, in support of these purposes.
