On Sunday, April 29 at 12:51 p.m., police were dispatched to a disturbance with weapons at 146 N. 9th Ave. in Brighton. Witnesses reported 3-4 males were involved in a disturbance and a gun had been discharged. The suspect with the weapon had reportedly re-entered the residence and was refusing to come out. Additional people inside the residence did exit after being ordered to do so but none matched the description of the man with a gun. The joint Brighton and Commerce City Special Services Unit (SSU) was contacted and responded to the residence. After repeated attempts to have all remaining people exit the house the SSU prepared to gain entry into the house. The remaining parties came out and no one else was located inside.
Five people were taken into custody and were released pending charges ranging from disorderly conduct to reckless endangerment. No one was injured and people were allowed to return to their residences at 6:18 p.m. This case remains under investigation at this time.
