Back-to-back holiday weekend celebrations will be coming to Brighton with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 3 and the Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday, December 10.
The Tree Lighting event will take place from 2-7 p.m. at Founders Plaza (5 S. Main Street). New to the event this year will be a Winter Market on South Main St. (near the plaza) from 2-7 p.m. The market will feature unique artists, crafters and artisan food vendors. Vendor applications will be accepted online until November 25.
Other activities prior to the Tree Lighting include Santa Comes to Town, free face painting, and The Teddy Bear & Friends Tree. These activities will take place from 2-4:30 p.m. Face Vocal Band, the internationally acclaimed all-vocal rock band from Boulder, will be performing on the FNBO stage from 5-7 p.m. on S. Main Street in front of Founders Plaza. Sponsored by the Brighton Economic Development Corporation, Face will help City Council countdown as the Christmas Tree is lit at 5 p.m. Thank you to tree sponsor United Power. On December 10, the City of Brighton will present the 27th Annual Festival of Lights Parade starting at 5 p.m. downtown. The nighttime electric light parade themed “A Hometown Holiday Tradition” will feature up to 65 parade entries. If you’d like to submit a parade entry, visit Brighton’s Festival of Lights Parade. The deadline for entries is Nov. 25. For information on the parade route and more, visit the Festival of Lights web page.
In the hours leading to the start of the Festival of Lights, staff at the Brighton City Museum (22 S. 4th Avenue) will hand out cookies and hot cocoa from 2-5 p.m. There will also be old-fashioned crafts to take home for free, with the request of a donation of a non-perishable food item.
