The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Brighton the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2022 fiscal year. The award represents a significant achievement by the GFOA, reflecting the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. 

In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally-recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. To receive the award, budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories. 

The City of Brighton has won the distinction every year since it began applying in 2015. Each year, over 1,700 governments receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. To learn more about the program and other award winners, click here.
