Construction for the new traffic signal at 144th Avenue and Sable Boulevard has resumed, and thus traffic delays are expected for approximately one month. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time. Road work construction signs will be in place for the duration of the construction. For a map of alternate routes, click here.
The traffic signal construction is the second phase, in which the contractor will place the above-ground equipment, complete electrical wiring and install the traffic signal poles and associated infrastructure. Once the construction is completed, the signal testing phase will begin with construction signage notifying of the upcoming traffic pattern change. During construction, drivers are urged to pay extra careful attention to workers, traffic control, lane shifts and construction signage and to also use slower speeds.

About the project:
Prior to this new traffic signal project, the intersection of East 144th Ave. and Sable Blvd. was a four-way stop, part of the design phase ahead of the installation of the traffic signal. Upon completion of the new construction, the final configuration will be a fully-signalized intersection with modified timing plans to accommodate the high volume of north and south traffic on Sable Blvd. Construction of the traffic signal is expected to increase the safety of the intersection, reduce the severity and frequency of accidents and improve efficiency and operational use of the busy corridor.
