At its January 18 meeting, City Council voted 6 yes - 2 no (Mayor Pro Tem Adam Cushing and Council Member Matt Johnston) with one absence (Council Member Mary Ellen Pollack) to award $613,810 to Arrow J Landscape & Design for construction of the final phase, phase 2 of Founders Plaza. An Adams County Open Space Grant will cover 55-percent of the cost of this project, with the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) providing $276,214.50 in funding.
Phase 2 will include features like enhanced colored concrete events area, trellis shelters and covered picnic tables, overhead festoon lighting, additional seating and landscaped areas, more trees for shade, a permanent location for the City’s holiday tree and more. These features incorporate citizen feedback from a public meeting in late 2020.
Parks and Recreation staff are working to finalize the timeline of this project - details will be shared with the public once they are confirmed.
