City of Brighton residents are encouraged to apply for the 50/50 Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Program to help ease the financial costs of maintenance and replacements. According to Brighton Municipal Code, maintenance and repairs to sidewalks, curbs and gutters are the responsibility of the owner of the property in which they are attached to. The City’s 50/50 Program aims to help ease the financial cost of these repairs by covering 50-percent of the replacement costs, while the homeowner is responsible for the remaining 50-percent.
By navigating to brightonco.gov/50-50, residents can apply online for the program in a few simple steps. Residents will be asked to submit contact information, the needed repair(s), and an optional photo upload. Once an application is submitted, staff from the City’s Public Works Department will reach out to the resident for further steps or inquire if additional information is needed.
The City of Brighton’s 50/50 Program began in 2004 as a way to help homeowners pay for repair costs of their sidewalks, curbs and gutters. In 2021, the program assisted 14 homeowners with sidewalk, curb and/or gutter repairs. To date, the city has saved homeowners approximately $75,000 in repair costs through this program.
