Unofficial results from the December 7, 2021 special mail ballot run-off election shows incumbent Gregory Mills has won the seat for Brighton City Mayor with 2,751 votes. Candidate Laurie D. Lozano Maier had a total of 2,340 votes. Per Article II, Section 3.6 of the city charter, the candidate with the highest number of votes wins the run-off election.
Since no candidate for mayor received a majority of the votes cast in the November 2, 2021 election, per the city charter, a run-off election is required for the two candidates with the highest number of votes (Gregory Mills and Laurie D. Lozano Maier).
Mayor-elect Gregory Mills and elected city council members will be sworn in at the January 4 ,2022 City Council meeting to be held at 6 p.m. at the Armory Performing Arts Center (300 Strong Street, Brighton).
