Eagle View Adult Center to offer free annual Medicare series


Learn everything you need to know about Medicare in Eagle View Adult Center’s (EVAC) upcoming annual Medicare series starting October 19. Medicare is the federal government’s health insurance program that primarily covers people 65 and older and certain younger people with disabilities or kidney failure. From overviews of the healthcare program to prescription drug plans, the classes listed below will be available in-person at EVAC (1150 Prairie Center Parkway) and via Zoom. All programs are free. 

Class: Medicare 101

Dates & Time(s): Tues., Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. (Deadline to register: Oct. 18) and Tues., Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m. (Deadline to register: Nov. 1)

Description: This informative overview of Medicare covers how it works and what it covers, especially under Part A and B. The evening program includes an in-depth review of Part D drug plans.

Class: Supplemental Plans & Part D

Dates & Time(s):  Tues., Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. (Deadline to register: Oct. 25)

Description: Part 1. Learn about Medicare supplemental insurance that may be needed to cover gaps in Medicare Parts A and B and how to choose a “Medi-gap” policy. Part II: This Part D - Prescription Drug Plan overview is for new Medicare recipients choosing the Plan A & B option, as well as review of 2022 changes for existing consumers. Drug plans and pricing change every year so you should review annually.

Class: Medicare Advantage Plans & Extra Help

Dates & Time(s): Tues., Nov. 2 at 1:30 p.m. (Deadline to register: Nov. 1)

Description: Part I: How does Medicare work when you sign up for HMO plans like United Healthcare or Kaiser? Typically called Medicare Advantage Plans (or Part C), these plans combine Parts A, B & D into one. Learn the pros and cons to consider before signing up for this type of plan.

Class: Medicare Part D Open Enrollment

Dates & Time(s): 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, 9, 23, and 30 (Deadline to register: By noon the Monday before)

Description: Need help enrolling in a Part D - Prescription Drug Plan? Meet with a Benefits in Action Medicare Counselor to get free one-on-one assistance. Call Evon at 303-655-2079 for an appointment.
