The public is invited on Saturday, September 11 to attend the city’s 20th anniversary commemoration ceremony of the 9/11 attacks to honor the 3,000 lives lost and the first responders who bravely stepped in to help. The Brighton Fire Rescue District, Brighton Police and Platte Valley Ambulance will be hosting the ceremony, which is set to start at 7:45 a.m. at the entrance of Brighton City Hall (500 S. 4th Avenue).
During the ceremony, there will be a moment of silence, speeches from first responders, and bagpipers and an honor guard to post the colors. The Brighton Police Department will also conduct a three round volley salute to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. In addition, a treasured piece of one of the Twin Towers gifted to the Brighton Fire Rescue District will be on display.
This event is free for the public to attend. Wearing a face mask is requested for attendees, especially those who are unvaccinated.
