On Saturday, May 29, 2021 at approximately 7:20 p.m. Brighton police officers were dispatched to Interstate 76 (I-76) and Bromley Lane for a rollover crash. Responding officers found a single vehicle in the westbound lanes of I-76 with heavy damage. The investigation revealed a white sedan was traveling eastbound on I-76 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to go into the shoulder of the interstate. The vehicle then rolled, landing in the westbound lanes of traffic. All four occupants of the sedan were injured with one of them dying at the hospital.
The decedent was an 11 year old juvenile, no other information on the child is being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. Police do believe that alcohol and speed were factors in this crash. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old female was arrested for suspicion of vehicular homicide. Her identity is also not being released at this time.
