On Tuesday night, the Brighton City Council was presented with the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for 2020. Haynie & Company, the city’s independent audit firm, presented the results during the regularly scheduled Study Session. The city received an unmodified opinion (clean) with no proposed adjustments.  

The city charter and state law require an annual audit be completed by independent certified public accountants selected by the City Council. The goal of the independent audit was to provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements of the city for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2020 are free of material misstatements.
