The City of Brighton’s 50/50 Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Program aims to help ease the financial costs of maintenance and replacements, and now features a new online form to help residents more easily apply for the program. By navigating to brightonco.gov/50-50, residents can apply for the program in a few simple steps, including inputting contact details, what is needed for repair and a photo upload. Once an application is submitted, staff from the City’s Public Works Department will reach out to the resident for further steps or inquire if additional information is needed.
According to Brighton Municipal Code, maintenance and repairs to sidewalks, curbs and gutters attached to a home are the responsibility of the owner of the property. The City’s 50/50 Program aims to help ease the financial cost of these repairs by covering 50-percent of the replacement costs, while the homeowner is responsible for the remaining 50-percent.
The City of Brighton’s 50/50 Program began in 2004 as a way to help homeowners pay for repair costs of their sidewalks, curbs and gutters. To date, the city has saved homeowners approximately $50,000 in repair costs through this program.
