As part of SPEAK Week, the Brighton Youth Commission will be hosting a Drive-In Movie Night on Friday, April 30. The Academy Award-winning film “Inside Out” will be featured at the Brighton Pavilions (the parking lot behind Fishtail Cuisine of India & Nepal). The event is free to the public, but admission is required. Reserve a spot at speak5k.org (registration opens at 5 p.m. on April 15).
“We hope those in our community feel included in the conversation,” said Tawyna Russell, Manager of Youth Services. “We want everyone to understand the importance of sharing our feelings with the most trusted in our lives.”
From April 26 - May 1, SPEAK (Suicide Prevention Education Awareness Knowledge) Week will include a mix of virtual and in-person events that aim to raise awareness about the prevalence of teen suicide and to educate the community on mental health issues and the stigmas surrounding them.
