The Brighton Municipal Court will be holding most court sessions virtually via Zoom effective Tuesday, Dec. 8. Defendants who are summoned to appear for court will use the QLess application on their mobile device or through the link found on the court webpage under “Remote Appearance” to check-in. Individuals will receive a text message that informs them of their rights and starts the process. Another text will be sent as the individual moves through the line. Once the court is ready for the individual to be seen, a final text will be sent with a Zoom link.
The court will require that video be turned on so the court can identify the defendant. All paperwork will be distributed via email. If a defendant does not have the means necessary (wifi or an electronic device) to attend their virtual session, the court will make accommodations at the courthouse (3401 E. Bromley Lane). If that is the case, the individual needs to contact the court to make the necessary arrangements by calling 303-655-2064.
All court trials will still be held in-person and all witnesses must appear in person. The court will require that proper COVID-19 safety measures are taken.
This will be an adjustment for everyone as the City continues to make adjustments to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines for the safety of all visitors.
