Police make arrest in animal cruelty case

On October 9, 2020, Brighton Police arrested 31-year-old Brighton man, Ramiro Ramirez, on charges of Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Tampering with Evidence.  

Ramirez is accused of fatally assaulting his family’s pet German Shepherd after the dog snipped at a child in the home. The incident occurred at the family home on Comanche Creek Drive in Brighton.  

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the deceased German Shepherd in this case. If anyone has any information that could aid in this investigation, please contact the Brighton Police Department Tip Line at (303) 655-8740.  

The charges against Ramirez are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless  proven guilty.
