In a Special City Council meeting on Sept. 22, Brighton City Council voted 6-1 to approve a resolution to censure the conduct, condition and actions of Council Member Kris Jordinelli for his conduct at the Sept. 15 City Council meeting. In accordance with City Charter, Council Member Kris Jordinelli abstained from voting. The resolution stated that the Council deemed the conduct, condition and actions of Council Member Jordinelli at the meeting to be inconsistent with the values and ideals of the Council or the City of Brighton and strongly encouraged the Jordinelli to take full advantage of any and all resources available through the City or other sources.
During the Special Meeting, Council Member Jordinelli apologized for his actions, vowing he would regain trust not with words but through actions.
The City Council asserted that elected officials should be held to and are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with a high standard that positively reflects on the City Council as a body of the City of Brighton. If a member of the Council behaves in a manner that negatively portrays Council as a body of the City, Council may censure that member as it deems appropriate and adopt resolutions necessary for the general health, safety and welfare of Brighton residents.
