The Brighton Recreation Center is excited to announce Car-nival Palooza is returning with a different look this year as a drive-thru event at a new location. The annual trunk-or-treat event will take place at Elmwood Cemetery (14800 Old Brighton Road) on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 4-6:30 p.m.
Members of the public will drive through the cemetery with their windows down, while vendors will pass out candy as they drive by. In light of COVID-19-related health and safety concerns, the drive-thru aims to limit contact and exposure. The public is asked to enter from the south end of the cemetery at 144th Avenue off of Highway 85.
The annual Car-nival Palooza promotes community fun for Halloween with participants trunk-or-treating and enjoying cars decorated in costumes.
If you’d like to support the event, candy donations can be dropped at the Brighton Recreation Center (555 N. 11th Ave.), the Brighton Police Department (3401 E. Bromley Lane) or City Hall (500 S. 4th Ave.).
The Rec Center is also seeking local businesses, nonprofits, teams and citizens to enter as a vendor. Vendors will need to provide their own candy (1,200 pieces minimum). There is no charge to participate as a vendor, but a donated bag of candy is requested. Vendors can sign-up online by visiting https://www.brightonco.gov/1124/Car-nival-Palooza (click “How to Sign up Your Trunk” on the left side of the web page).
Members of the public who’d like to participate are not required to RSVP.
