City of Brighton Acting City Manager Marv Falconburg is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Sherman to Director of Utilities. As Director, Sherman will oversee the implementation, operation, and maintenance of all facilities related to the delivery of potable (drinkable) and non-potable water supplies, the collection and treatment of wastewater, and the discharge of storm drainage throughout the City.
Prior to joining the City of Brighton, Sherman served as the Engineering Supervisor for the City of Aurora’s Public Works Department since September 2018. In Aurora, Sherman was in charge of the department’s inspections and its materials testing lab. From 2011 to 2018, Sherman oversaw the design and construction of infrastructure systems as the Senior Consulting Engineer for Harris Water Engineering, Inc. in Durango. Before 2011, Sherman worked as the Principal Consulting Engineer at Sherman Engineering, LLC in Broomfield, Senior Project Manager at United Pipeline Systems - Insituform in Durango, Project Manager for Genex Construction, and the County Planning Engineer for La Plata County, Colorado.
Sherman earned his bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Computer Science from Colorado State University and is a licensed professional engineer. Sherman also brings 20-plus years of experience as an emergency medical technician.
