Brighton police have completed their investigation of a single-vehicle crash involving a school bus that rolled-over while transporting six students to an area school.
The crash happened just before 8:25 a.m. on September 25, 2019, about .8 mile west of Buckley Road on 136th Avenue. The bus was westbound on 136th Ave. when it left the roadway on the right-hand side and the driver lost control, at which point the bus slid and rolled one time, coming to rest upright. Six students and two adult employees of 27J Schools were transported to area hospitals, none with life-threatening injuries.
After completing an extensive investigation including mechanical inspections and a toxicology screen of the driver, crash investigators are confident that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the crash, although it appears that driver fatigue may have been a factor. The driver, 43-year-old Christina Villareal, of Brighton, was issued a summons for Careless Driving Causing Injury.
