Brighton officials are seeking eight Brighton water customers to serve on a committee to help select an independent firm to conduct a forensic audit of the City’s Utilities funds dating back to 2008. City Council members will select two water customers from their respective ward to serve on this committee. A water customer is anyone who receives a City of Brighton water bill.
Committee members may be either a residential or business water customer and may not be related or have a close, personal relationship to City Council members or be a past or present City of Brighton employee. Committee members must be available to meet both at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 and 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at City Hall. Meetings should not last more than two hours. Some advanced preparation for meetings may be required.
The committee will work together to review submittals received for the city’s Request for Proposal (RFP) for an independent firm to conduct a forensic audit and, subsequently, make a recommendation to City Council.
To apply, visit www.brightonco.gov/auditcommittee. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Sept. 13. City Council will make their selections by Sept. 24.
On July 2, City Council voted to authorize city staff to pursue hiring an outside, independent firm to conduct a forensic audit of the Utilities funds.
