[ARCHIVED] Trash Bash and EcoEvent scheduled for Sept. 13 and 14


The City of Brighton will host two of its popular events in the same weekend this fall.  Trash Bash will be on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brighton Wastewater Treatment Facility, 325 North Kuner Road. Also on Saturday, Sept. 14, the city will host its EcoEvent in the parking lot of City Hall, 500 S. 4th Ave. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

These events are for Brighton residents only. Brighton addresses do not necessarily mean that you are Brighton resident. A suitable proof of residency (utility or phone bill) is required as well as identification, such as a driver’s license.

Acceptable items at Trash Bash include:

  • Furniture

  • Cabinets

  • Appliances (no refrigerators or freezers)

  • Bicycles

  • Carpet (must be cut up)

  • Doors

  • Lawn/yard equipment

  • Branches (cut less than 5 feet and bundled securely)

  • Nail-free lumber less than 8 feet length 

Small loose items must be containerized and total weight must be relative to the type of container. No commercial or industrial facilities will be allowed. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted to help defray from the cost of the service. Tires will be accepted for a fee of $5 each. No oversized tires are allowed. 

In addition, the city will provide pickup service between Sept. 11 and 12 for the elderly or those with special needs. To request pick up, please call 303-655-2034.

Items not allowed include: household trash, commercial waste, concrete/home improvement project debris, grass clippings, televisions, computers, air conditioners, freezers, microwaves, refrigerators, office electrical equipment, car bodies, smoke detectors, all liquids, paint, motor oil, pesticides or chemicals as well as  any material that is toxic, corrosive or explosive and no sealed containers with unknown contents. 


The event is a great opportunity to recycle old electronics such as computers, laptops, printers, keyboards and cables, LCD/CRT/LED monitors, and cell phones. Also, computer accessories, copiers, digital cameras, and game consoles can be recycled. NO LARGE APPLIANCES PLEASE. 

Recycling these electronics is free, but a fee of $25 is applied to recycle CRT and TV sets up to 32 inches. CRT monitors and TV sets 35-50 inches will cost $35. Cash and checks will be accepted, no credit cards please. 

 Paper shredding will also be available. Each person is allowed to bring up to three copy boxes or one large trash bag of paper to shred. Please no x-rays, large binder clips or 3-ring binders. Shredding may be witnessed by customers to insure shredding is completed.

 A suggested donation of $5 will be accepted to help defray the cost of these services, and checks can be made payable to the City of Brighton.
