Brighton Police Department hosting Citizens’ Academy

The Brighton Police Department is accepting applications for its Citizens' Police Academy. This free, eight-week course provides participants with an inside look at law enforcement while providing hands-on training.

Topics covered in the academy include firearms training, police driving, radio communications, use of force/arrest control, investigations, crime scenes, DUI enforcement, and other exciting topics. 

Classes for the academy will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays from Sept. 11 through Oct. 30 with two all-day Saturday classes held on Sept. 14 and Oct. 12. 

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and complete an application and background check. Space is limited and first consideration will be given to those that live or work in Brighton.
