[ARCHIVED] Fun-filled Activities Planned for National Kids to Parks Day May 17

In recognition of National Park Trust’s National Kids to Parks Day, the Brighton Recreation Center will be sponsoring a fun-filled day of activities for children of all ages at Brighton Park from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Residents are encouraged to come out and participate in this free day of activities. The day will include:

9:30 a.m. - Raptor Rendezvous, all ages
The Raptor Rendezvous will introduce the audience to four categories of local raptors to include an eagle, owl, falcon, and hawk.

11 a.m. - Zumba in the Park, all ages
Zumbatomic classes are rockin’, high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines.

1 p.m.- Brighton wRECfest, ages 13 and up
Brighton wRECfest is the hottest show ever! Featuring a full afternoon of live music from 10 of the best pop/punk and metal bands in Northern Colorado. Music starts at 1 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m.

Recognizing that young people spend far too much time indoors and far too little time appreciating and preserving America's magnificent national, state and local parks, the National Park Trust is mobilizing kids across the country for a nationwide park play-in through its National Kids to Parks Day. Last year, more than 108,000 kids and families participated. In addition, 260 mayors in 45 states and Washington D.C. and eight state governors issued proclamations, a U.S. Senate resolution passed declaring National Kids to Parks Day, and more than 250 events were held across the United States.
