Drought is an inevitable feature in any environment, especially in the semi-arid region in which we live in along the Front Range. Drought can cause serious water shortages that can impact the health and safety, the economic well-being, and individual lifestyles of citizens.
In order to be prepared for water supply shortages, the City of Brighton adopted a Drought Management Plan in 2012. This plan includes an updated drought stage index, categorized into four, color-coded drought stages. Each of these drought stages contains specific goals and specific required actions.
Please continue to monitor for Drought Stage Declarations, including mandatory restrictions. If you have any questions, please call the Water Resources Division at 303-655-2127.
