Henry Ross submitted a naming petition in 2004 to name the park located at 605 Tumbleweed Drive "Dave Lockman Park". This is what Mr. Ross had to say about Dave Lockman:
The late Dave Lockman, a long-time Brighton resident was a tireless community activist who was dedicated to making Brighton a better place to live and work. Throughout the years Dave was influential in improving our city's parks and recreation facilities. Through the local Lions Clubs he spearheaded the construction of shelters at Benedict Park. An avid fisherman he supported the creation of the fishing ponds near the Brighton Recreation Center. However, Dave's proudest achievement was the dedication of the Brighton Veterans Memorial was was dedicated at Elmwood Cemetery shortly before his death. As a life-long contributor to the parks and recreation programs in Brighton it would be appropriate to honor Dave with a park named after him.
