Following is an outline of the more basic codes enforced by Code Enforcement with general information. Garage sales/ Yard Sale / Advertisement (signs)
Garage or yard sale signs shall be limited to three days prior to sale and shall be removed the day following the sale. No signs shall be posted on any public right-of-way. This includes roadside, utility poles, street signs, etc. Vehicle signs are permitted if they do not contain flashing or moving elements, they do not project beyond the surface of the vehicle, and the vehicle is legally parked and does not create a traffic hazard. Citizens are encouraged to use three (3) public bulletin boards located at Campbell Park (650 Southern St.), Brighton Recreation Center (555 N. 11th St.), and Platte River Ranch (Bromley Lane Entrance) to post sale information.

There have been significant changes to this ordinance effective 10/21/09. Over the next several weeks information will be presented to the public explaining each change in detail. The property owner, tenant or person having control of the property shall remove or eradicate the graffiti within seven (7) days of knowing of its presence.
The City can no longer assume responsibility for the expenses associated with such clean up. Further information will be posted on the City's website regarding the additions to the ordinance as soon as possible.

Any owner, tenant or occupant, representative having control of property must remove all rubbish, trash, debris, filthy deposits and junk found on such property and to immediately dispose of the same. |

Parking on Private Property
There have been significant changes to this ordinance effective 10/21/09. Refer to the ordinance link for further information in reference the new ordinance. It is unlawful for any person to place, keep, store or park a vehicle, boat, detached camper, cart, wagon, off-highway vehicle, snowmobile, farm tractor or implement of husbandry, whether occupied or not (otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of, and while actually engaged in, loading or unloading deliveries), in a private driveway, school parking lot, condominium complex parking lot, business parking lot, or on otherwise private property without the express or implied consent of the owner, manager or person in lawful possession or control of such property. In all zone districts other than residential zone districts it shall be unlawful to keep, store or park a vehicle, boat, detached camper, cart, wagon, off-highway vehicle, snowmobile, farm tractor or implement of husbandry, whether occupied or not, (otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of, and while actually engaged in, loading or unloading deliveries), in any front yard or side yard on street, unless such vehicles are parked on a driveway paved with concrete, asphalt, rock or gravel or in a side yard behind a lawfully constructed 6 foot privacy fence. |

Parking on Public Property
No person shall park, keep or store any truck tractor or semi trailer (regardless of size), truck exceeding eight thousand pounds empty weight, tow truck or vehicle equipped to provide towing services, bus, trailer coach, mobile home, detached camper or pickup shell, farm tractor, implement of husbandry, construction equipment recreational vehicle, utility trailer for a period of time longer than one hour on a public right-of-way within a residentially zoned area or on a public right-of-way adjacent to any lot upon which there is a residence in any zoned district; except where the vehicles or trailers are parked adjacent to a lot on which is located a motel or hotel being used by the operator of the vehicle or trailers. The period of time during which such vehicles are engaged in rendering services in the immediate area shall be excluded from computation of the one-hour limit provided by this section.

Any owner, tenant or occupant, representative having control of property must clear any sidewalk adjoining to their property of snow and ice within 24 hours following the last accumulation of snow, sleet, ice or other obstruction. It shall be unlawful to allow any obstruction to remain on any sidewalk, street, alley or other public place in the City without written authorization. Examples of such obstructions include but are not limited to piles of materials, vegetation, weeds, portable basketball hoops, structures or any physical object located within the width of the sidewalk, street, alley or public place. |

Any owner, tenant or occupant representative having control of property must cut and remove any weeds, grass, brush or rank vegetation with a height greater than six (6) inches or in any such manner that would constitute a fire hazard. |
